What is Prescribed information?

Prescribed information is the set of details about a protected deposit that a landlord must give the tenant, and anyone who paid the deposit for them, within 30 days of receiving it.

Why it matters to landlords

It includes the scheme's contact details, how the deposit is protected, the property address, the deposit amount, when deductions might be made and how to dispute them. Each scheme provides a template.

Giving it late or not at all carries the same kind of risk as not protecting the deposit, so keep proof of when and how you served it.

Keep a signed or dated copy showing exactly when and how it was given to each person.
